Hints for West Wing Escape
You find yourself in the West Wing, and the bad guys have taken over. Your mission – to outsmart the bad guys and escape in one piece. But the going in West Wing Escape can get a bit rough, and you might find a hint or two handy in finding your way in the game.
Simply click or touch the hint title to show the hint. Touch the title again to hide it. But note, only one hint can show at a time. Good Luck escaping from the West Wing!
Hint 1: How do I get out of the advisor’s room?
So far so good – you have managed to get past the guards, and you found a way into the Advisor 1 room. But now you need to get out, and the door is locked. How can a daring adventurer escape?Well, the chair is too short to reach the transom window. And the same thing can be said about the trash can conveniently located near by. However, if you use these two items together and stack the trash can in the chair, you are left with a tall chair that, while unwieldy at best, is just tall enough to reach the window. But don’t be surprised if using such an apparatus gets a bit messy.
Hint 2: How do I get past the guards at the start of the game?
So, you have discovered that guards are blocking the hallways at the start of the game, and it has you boxed in to just a few rooms. How do you get past them?Well, you are going to need an old fashioned distraction. In the cabinet room you may have noticed a sprinkler. If you can get that sprinkler to go off, then it should make a fairly decent distraction, allowing you to slip out into the hallway without issue. And with the right combination of items you can create a pretty handy time delay fuse, allowing you to set it off and get out of the way before being caught. You are going to need two items, one being the matches from the president’s study. The other you will find in the dining room off of the Oval Office. Use that last item with the sprinkler, then light it and run! Good Luck!
Hint 3: How do I get into the Advisor 1 office?
So, you have discovered a locked door in the hallway, and the map shows it leading to the first Presidential Advisor’s office. But the door is locked, and nothing appears to work to open it. How does a brave adventurer get the door open?Well, the answer is – you don’t get it open. But you can get into the room. If you notice, there is a transom window above the door. Of course, the window is too high to reach standing on the floor, so you are going to need to find something to boost you up to that height. But what? Well, if you haven’t discovered the guard in the west hallway yet, you probably will. And you need to dispatch with or distract that guard before you can find a nice big comfy something to climb on and get into the window. But that isn’t a problem for a hardy adventurer…
Hint 4: How do I get past the guard in the West Hallway?
So, you have managed to get past the first bunch of guards, only to discover that another guard is wandering about the West Hallway, stopping you from accessing that side of the first floor Wet Wing. How do you get past the guard?Well, you are going to need to distract the guard again. You will need to find something that makes a sound, like maybe an older tape recorder used by the press in covering the Presidential Speeches. Once you find it, you will discover that you need a power source to make it go. In the blocked entry, you may have found a wall clock that is plugged into an ac adapter. While that is a bad location to use as a distraction, you can nonetheless use that adapter to power the tape recorder in a better location. But you will probably find that the adapter is attached to the wall, and you will need some kind of tool to get it free…
Hint 5: Help! I can’t find the elevator code for the terminal!
So, in your attempt to escape from the West Wing, you discover that the elevator is locked down and you need to enter a code on the keypad to unlock it. But you have no such code, and you simply don’t have the time to go through all of the possible combinations to make it work otherwise. What is a brave adventurer to do?Well, the code to get on the elevator is on one of the computers on the first floor. If you notice carefully, one of the computers references a user by name, while the others simply say “Guest”. Once you note the name on the computer, see if you can’t find something else with the same name on it. On that item you will find the code to get into the computer. Of course, it isn’t labeled as the password, so it might take a little detective work to figure it out. But it should be fairly simple once you connect the dots and realize that people often have computer passwords based on something else in their life. In fact, in this case it is serves as a fairly common source for passwords. Go figure!
Hint 6: How do I get past the guard in the Floor 0 Lobby?
You have managed to get off the first floor of the West Wing, only to discover that a guard is in the lobby, stopping you form going deeper onto that floor. But you probably need to get past him in order to figure out how to escape this place. What is a brave adventurer to do?Well, you may notice that this guard is busy fumbling with his gear instead of actively patrolling the area for stray tourists like yourself. It is a small advantage, but a better one than any you have had so far with the guards. So, let’s dispatch him. If you go north from the lobby, you will find a locked toolbox. Simply unlock the toolbox and get the wrench. (In case you don’t know how to unlock the toolbox, there is a hint for that.) Now, the wrench itself is too small to help with the distracted guard, but it can be used to get something upstairs that is nice, heavy, and made of iron. And that WILL do the job…
Hint 7: How do I open the tool chest?
In your attempt to escape the bad guys in the West Wing you have come across a tool chest that is locked. And you are pretty sure that a good tool would be handy about now, but you have no key to open it. What is a daring adventurer to do?You are on the right track when yo mention that you have no keys, since that is exactly what you will need to open that tool chest. Of course, the needed keys are not just lying about anywhere. In fact, someone has got them on their person, and you need to get them. Have you found anyone else in the West Wing besides yourself and the bad guys? Even if they are not all that talkative, they can still be quite helpful in this matter…
Hint 8: How do I read the Guard’s note?
You have got this spiffy note from one of the guards, but it is in a language that you cannot understand. Yet it would seem that something important enough for the guard to make a note of just might be the kind of inside information that you could use about now. How can a clever tourist trapped in the West Wing read the note?Well, if you have been exploring the West wing, you may have come across a certain book. That book is the Roswell Translation Manual, and it seems to cover a lot of different languages (some of them not of this world!). The note is no challenge at all for the translation manual, and by using the two together you will find that the note is quite easy to read.
Hint 9: I need a flashlight!
Okay, you have discovered a place that is dark, and you really need a flashlight to help you navigate it. But so far you have not found a flashlight. What is a brave, flashlight-less adventurer to do?Well, the bad news is that there is no flashlight to be found. But there is a reasonable substitute that will work in a pinch, and a lot of people use them every day, sometimes to help them navigate in a darkened theater. That device is a cell phone. And where will you find a cell phone in the now deserted and overtaken West Wing? It is locked in a desk, and there is no key. But being a clever, adventurer, you can pick a lock with the right tool. And that tool actually is just lying about, in a nearby trash can. While it is a messy job, digging through the trash may yield something useful. And who said being an adventurer wasn’t glamorous?
Hint 10: How do I get the paper stuck behind the radiator?
In your exploration of the West Wing, you have come across a radiator that has a piece of paper stuck behind it, naturally out of reach. But any information at this point is probably a good thing to have, so you want to get the note. So, what is a clever adventurer to do?Well, you need something that is thin enough and long enough to reach behind the radiator and grab the paper. And of course there is just the item for doing this somewhere in the West Wing. You may have already found it, but there is a tool sitting in the fireplace. As it turns out, this item is perfect for going paper fishing for papers behind radiators. Who knows, maybe it will turn into a sport one day. That is, if you can escape the West Wing and live to tell anyone about it…
Hint 11: The detonator is all wet and broken. How can I fix it?
You have found a detonator that could be handy in your current situation with the bad guys, but it is wet, probably from the sprinklers upstairs earlier. But how can you fix the detonator to make it work again?work fine if you can manage to dry them out before applying power. Luckily the detonator you found is no exception, you just need to find the right way to dry it out. Have you found a kitchen in your exploration? That kitchen may have just such a device, and it is called an oven. Use the detonator with the oven, and it should come out all nice and toasty, but more importantly dry and functioning. Of course, a detonator itself is no good without something that goes boom to go with it…
Hint 12: I can’t get the Secret Service Door open
So, you have managed to overcome a lot of obstacles in the West Wing, but now you have found that you cannot get into the Secret Service area. The only thing standing between where you are and where you want to be is this door. But it is locked. What is a brave adventurer to do?Well, in this case of a locked door you are really going to need a key. But where are you going to find such a key in the West Wing? Actually the key is in safe keeping, tightly held by someone (not a guard) that you can apparently trust . The bad news is that they are unconscious at the moment and you are going to have to find a way to revive them, even if it is temporary. Good Luck!
Hint 13: Help! I am stuck in the Air Ducts!
So, you have braved the guards and challenges of the West Wing, only to find yourself stuck in a maze of air ducts. What is a bold but trapped adventurer to do?Well, I hate to think of anyone left
in the maze to wander about, so I would like to do the right
thing and give the information needed. I am left
with the question about the best way to present the information. Suddenly, it dawns on me right
when I go to answer that I already have in this paragraph.Hope that helps!
Hint 14: The Video Conferencing Computer Says Something Is Missing
So far so good. You have managed to find your way to the video conferencing computer, and even entered the password. But now it says something is missing. What could that be?Well, what we want to do is to set up a diversion and have all the guards come running to the video conference room when they hear their leader. But to pull that off, we need some media to play. As it just so happens to turn out (don’t you just love it when that happens?), a computer in the Secret Service Room has a DVD that they were analyzing. Unlock the Secret Service Room (if you haven’t already) and get the DVD out of the dead computer there. From there you are on your way to setting up one of the greatest diversions of all time. Well, may not the greatest, but at least it will be really handy for what you need at the moment.Oh, as for getting the DVD out of the dead computer, you need something that is going to fit in the manual eject hole…
